PA County Election Boards Frequently Changing a Voter's Status

Updated: Jan 27

Voter Status is either Active or Inactive. Typically, a voter's status is changed from Active to Inactive when an election board receives an indication that the voter has permanently moved out of Pennsylvania. If the election board subsequently receives and indication that an Inactive status voter still resides at their registration address the status is changed from Inactive to Active.

During the 2024 General election timeframe (June 10, 2024 to January 13, 2025), these voter status changes were observed. However, the statuses of some voters were changed 2, 3, 4, 5, and even 6 times as shown in Table 1.

An example of the multiple voter status changes is shown in Table 2. The fourteen 4 status changes of Chester County are depicted, showing the SURE Full Voter Export (FVE) dates, the voter ID Numbers (which are partially obscured), the status changes (A=Active, I=Inactive) and the FVE Status change dates (that does not always accurately reflect the actual change date).
